After Rocroi, he spent most of his life in Vire, where he started a family with his second wife Aricie Degournay. Francis' testimony is both touching and historically fascinating because he admits his mistakes and feelings even though the etiquette of the time did not allow it. Through his stories, the history of France becomes alive again.
